PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To establish the reference and means of objective judgement since the level of a side-effect/stomatitis is evaluated and coped with depending only on the subjective judgement of a medical person while the stomatitis/mucositis is surely caused in radiation therapy to a malignant tumeur and cases of being obliged to suspend or stop the treatment when the level is high frequently occur. SOLUTION: (1) The quantitative evaluation method of the mucositis/stomatitis uses the intensity of reflection light (reflected light, fluorescence, autofluorescence, etc.,) guided or excited in the lesion of the mucositis irradiated with a blue-violet laser beam. (2) The apparatus is provided with a light source of the blue-violet laser beam and a light receiving device for receiving the reflection light from the lesion of the mucositis irradiated with the laser beam and detecting the intensity and quantitatively measures the mucositis from the intensity of the reflection light.
