PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a sheet-like article such as an optical material or an imaging material having regular fine embossed patterns formed on its surface with high quality without defect and with good productivity and at a high line speed. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing an embossed sheet comprises carrying out the transfer forming of the protruded and recessed portions of the surface of an embossed roller 13 to the surface of a sheet W. The method includes the steps of allowing a flexible strip-sheet W to travel continuously, forming a coating layer by coating the surface of the sheet W with a radiation curable resin, transferring a pattern of the protruded and recessed portions on the surface of the embossed roller to the coating layer by winding the sheet W around the rotating embossed roller, curing the coating layer by irradiating the sheet W which is wound around the roller with radiation, releasing the sheet W from the embossed roller, laminating a film of metal or the metal oxide on the surface of the sheet W after releasing, and taking up the sheet W after lamination of the film in the form of a roll.
