PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device which is little in a short circuit and great in auxiliary capacitance in an auxiliary capacitance formation area, is large in the aperture ratio of each pixel, can reduce the occurrence of a display defect, such as a cross talk and flicker and is made smaller in pixel region and higher in fineness, and a manufacturing method thereof. SOLUTION: An auxiliary capacitance line 18 and a terminal portion 41 of the liquid crystal display device 10 are made of an Al or Al alloy layer 18<SB>1</SB>and an Mo layer 18<SB>2</SB>. The edge portions of a lower auxiliary capacitance electrode 18a and the terminal portion 41 are sequentially coated with a first insulating film 25, a second insulating film 26 that is thinner than the first insulating film, and a third insulating film 28. The lower auxiliary capacitance electrode 18a is coated with the second insulating film 26, and an upper auxiliary capacitance electrode 18b is laid on the surface of the second insulating film 26 on the lower auxiliary capacitance electrode 18a.
