<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spherical aberration compensating means which performs precisely without a complicated mechanism, and can be miniaturized, and an optical pickup device and optical disk unit for realizing the same means. <P>SOLUTION: The optical pickup device has a semiconductor laser, a collimate lens for converting an optical beam output from the semiconductor laser into almost parallel light, and an objective lens for condensing it onto a recording surface on the optical disk, and a transmission optical path variable element disposed between the semiconductor laser and the collimate lens so as to compensate the spherical aberration in a divergent optical path of the optical pickup device. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
