PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a composite member, by which the composite member uniformly ensuring spaces among island fibers can be produced in high productivity at a low cost in good working and natural environments without needing an environment measure installation, and to provide a composite member produced by the method. SOLUTION: This method for producing the composite member comprises extrusion-molding a bar-like resin article having a sea-island radial cross-sectional structure which has a molded construction rate relation of (island portion component≥sea portion component) and in which a plurality of the island portions 3 are scattered in the sea portion 2, cutting the bar-like article 1 in a proper length, and then taking off the sea portion 2 of one tip side portion 6 to leave the island portion 3 in the tip side portion 6 in a state that the sea portion 2 and the island portion 3 in the other side portion 5 in the cut bar-like member 4 are integrated, thus forming the composite member 11 having a fiber group 10 in which the island fibers 8 independently stand on the other side portion 5 end, while maintaining spaces 9, respectively.
