PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve processing efficiency by reducing erasing time for erasing processed data stored in a storage device. SOLUTION: A data storage means 71, when storing image data taken in through a scanner etc. in an HDD 90 as a storage device, stores data content of the image data as data management information in the HDD 90. When directed from a CPU 10 to erase the processed data and erasure processing of the processed data in the HDD 90 is to be performed, a management information reading means 72 reads the data management information corresponding to the data to be erased from the HDD 90. Then, an erasure means 73 compares the management information read by the management information reading means 72 with a predetermined erasure criterion, thus decides a method for executing the erasure processing, and erases the processed data stored in the HDD 90 by the decided execution method.
