PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic EL display that has the improved reliability achieved by allowing a metal film to absorb oxygen emitted by a metal oxide film, and to provide its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: The organic EL display includes an element substrate 1, an organic EL element 2 formed on the element substrate 1, a sealing substrate 3 arranged oppositely to the element substrate 1, a seal material 4 which is formed so as to surround the organic EL element 2 while being interposed between the element substrate 1 and the sealing substrate 3, and a moisture absorber 5 that is formed on a face of the sealing substrate 3 facing the element substrate 1, so as to absorb moisture in a space formed by the element substrate 1, sealing substrate 3, and seal material 4. The moisture absorber 5 has a structure in which an optically-transparent metal oxide film 7 and an optically-transparent metal film 8 are laminated. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
