PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat exchanger which reduces manufacturing costs. SOLUTION: A first header tank 2 of a gas cooler is composed of a tank forming member 7, and a plate 8 for pipe connection covering a left side face of the tank forming member 7. An inlet header part 10A and an outlet header part 10B are provided on the first header tank 2. An inlet member 13 for inflow of a coolant into the inlet header part 10A, and an outlet member 16 for outflow of the coolant from an outlet header part 10B interior are brazed to an outer side face of the tank forming member 7 of the first header tank 2. Protruding parts 13a, 16a protruding outward in fore and aft directions are provided on base end parts of both members 13, 16. Side face covering walls 19 are provided on both fore and aft rim parts of the plate 8 for pipe connection. Engagement pawls 25 protruding inward i the fore and aft directions and engaging with the protruding parts 13a, 16a of the inlet member 13 and the outlet member 16 are provided on ends of the side face covering walls 19, and the engagement pawls 25 are brazed to the protruding parts 13a, 16a.
