Microbistatic device comprises a herbal reactive substance releasing isothiocyanates (ITC) comprising a dehydrated crucifer to produce ITC in situ in the presence of integrated humidity in a selective membrane container with a porosity to allow the reactive substance to draw into its external humid environment required for initiating the reaction releasing ITC and for controlling the outward discharge speed of ITC. An independent claim is included for a packaging, tightly sealed with gas in which a product or foodstuff is conditioned, particularly a fresh or semi-fresh product ready to use or industrially prepared dish, containing the microbistatic device, where the humidity is required for initiating the reaction for releasing ITC from the product or commodity thus conditioned.
