A memory card reader and a control method thereof are provided to offer convenience as an MP3(MPEG(Moving Picture Experts Group) layer-3) player by charging a rechargeable battery embedded in the MP3 player while a function of the memory card reader is performed. A memory interface(204) receives data for a storage medium(100). A communication interface(202) communicates the data between the memory card reader(200) and a computer(300). A controller(210) transfers the data received through the memory interface to the computer through the communication interface. A player(220) plays a music file when the memory card reader is separated from the computer. The battery(206) supplies electric power to the player and is charged by receiving the electric power from the computer when the communication interface is connected to the computer. |
