A portable digital data storage device which comprises a storage member for storing data; and a destruction member that can be manipulated to cause damage to the storage member, whereby the damage prevents access to data stored in the storage member. The destruction member may be arranged to enclose the storage member. The destruction member may be arranged so as to snap the storage member when twisted. The storage device may be a USB flash drive.
