An LCD device, a driving method thereof, and a portable device including the same are provided to remove blackening and whitening by initiating the source voltage of the LCD device. An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) device includes a liquid crystal panel(10), a drive IC(Integrated Circuit)(110), and a system controller(120). The liquid crystal panel displays images. The drive IC drives the liquid crystal panel. The system controller compares signals generated from the drive IC with normal signals generated from the drive IC in a normal state and controls to be initiated the drive IC according to the comparison result. The drive IC includes data and gate drivers, a common voltage generator, and a source voltage supplier. The data driver supplies data signals to data lines. The gate driver supplies gate high and low voltages to gate lines. The common voltage generator supplies common voltages to common electrodes. The source voltage supplier supplies reference signals required for the liquid crystal panel and drivers.
