A process for cooling a tubular film (16) during blow mold film production, comprises blowing a cooling gas onto the film from a ring shaped nozzle, after the film leaves the head (15). The cooling gas is drawn off down stream of the gas input using a ring shaped unit. The film is sealed against the suction area. The loaded cooling gas is filtered and is kept separate from the surrounding air. The cooling arrangement consists of a cooling gas ring (19), a cooling gas outlet (21), a surrounding suction ring (25) and suction nozzles (26). The suction ring is located above a calibration unit for the film tube.
