摘要 An organic light emitting diode display and a driving method thereof are provided to reduce power consumption and to improve picture quality by controlling a luminance according to an emission area. A pixel unit(100) includes a plurality of pixels(110) for receiving a plurality of scan signals, a plurality of emission control signals, and a plurality of data signals in order to display images. A scan driving unit(400) transfers the scan signals and the emission control signals to the pixel unit. A data driving unit(300) generates the data signals by using video data, and transfers the data signals to the pixel unit. A luminance control unit(200) outputs a luminance control signal for controlling a luminance limit range of the pixel unit according to an emission area of the pixel unit corresponding to the frame data as the sum of video data. A gamma correction unit(500) controls a ratio of luminance to gray scales by using one of a first and second gamma correction values. The gamma correction unit includes a first register for storing the first gamma correction value and a second register for storing the second gamma correction value. The gamma correction unit selects one of the first and second registers by using the luminance control unit.
