PURPOSE: A microorganism for prevention and treatment of obesity or diabetes mellitus is provided, which microorganism has improved survival activity in intestines, and converts low molecular weight of saccharides into polysaccharides with higher yield to reduce absorption of carbohydrate into the human body. CONSTITUTION: The microorganism Lactobacillus fermentum NM316(KCTC-10458BP) producing polysaccharides is provided, wherein Lactobacillus fermentum NM316(KCTC-10458BP) is isolated from infants. A composition for prevention and treatment of obesity or diabetes mellitus comprises Lactobacillus fermentum NM316(KCTC-10458BP), wherein the composition is coated with an enteric release material. A food composition comprises Lactobacillus fermentum NM316(KCTC-10458BP) as an effective component, wherein the food composition is jelly, pudding, powder, capsule or fermented milk. |
