The present invention is directed to derivatives of N-[(1,5-diphenyl-1H- pyrazol-3- yl)methyl]sulphonamide. The novel derivatives of the present invention posse ss CB1 cannabinoid receptors. The derivatives are suitable for preparation of pharmaceutical compositions that can be used in the treatment or prevention of diseases in which CB1 receptors are involved such as psychiatric disorders, substance dependence a nd withdrawal, cognitive disorders, disorders of attention and vigilance, and acute and chronic neurodegenerative diseases. The derivatives can also be used in the treatment of many other diseases. The invention is also directed to process for preparing the novel derivatives.
