Compounds of formula (I) are inhibitors of 5 alpha -reductase and are useful alone or in combination with other active agents for the treatment of hyperandrogenic disorders such as acne vulgaris, seborrhea, female hirsutism, male pattern baldness, and benign prostatic hyperplasia.
