摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carbon material exhibiting high thermal conductivity in spite of low density and a method of manufacturing the same. <P>SOLUTION: The carbon material has &ge;1.65 Mg/m<SP>3</SP>bulk density, 180 W/(m&times;k) average coefficient of thermal conductivity in the X, Y and Z axial direction and exhibits V<SB>1</SB>&ge;2V<SB>2</SB>when cumulative pore volume in &ge;0.01 &mu;m and &le;1.0 &mu;m pore radius defined by pore diameter distribution measurement using mercury is expressed by V<SB>1</SB>and cumulative pore volume in pore radius larger than 1.0 &mu;m pore radius is expressed by V<SB>2</SB>. The specific resistance of the carbon material is preferably &le;8 &mu;&Omega;&times;m. The carbon material is manufactured by the manufacturing method having a step of kneading aggregate and a binder, pulverizing the kneaded product to obtain forming powder, externally adding &ge;1.0 pts. and &le;20 pts. carbonized material into the forming powder and mixing them, forming the mixture and heat-treating the formed body at a temperature equal to or above a prescribed temperature. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
