PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a refrigerator including an evaporating pan with increased evaporation capacity. SOLUTION: The refrigerator includes: a defrosting water evaporation device 103 inside a machine chamber 102 provided at underneath of the refrigerator; a first opening section 117 constructed by a lid member 116; a second opening section 118; and an air blowing means 119 for causing forced convection of air to the first opening. Provision of a second ventilation hole between a front surface and a bottom surface of the machine chamber 102 drastically increases wind speed at a water surface of the evaporating pan 115. By maintaining the wind speed at a water surface of the evaporating pan 115 by the second ventilation hole, the evaporation performance is improved and maintained to improve the reliability and dust tightness of the refrigerator, even when a suction hole of the air blowing means 119 is blocked by dirt and dust.
