<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a modified recombinant virus improved in safety, and to provide a method for producing such the recombinant virus. <P>SOLUTION: This modified recombinant virus wherein genetic functions encoded in the virus are inactivated to attenuate and enhance safety. The genetic functions are non-essential and are related to toxicity. The virus is advantageously a poxvirus, especially vaccinia virus or avipoxvirus. The modified recombinant virus can contain a foreign DNA sequence encoding an antigen or an epitope and/or CTL epitope originated from an immunodeficient virus, such as at least one of HIV1gag(+pro) (IIIB), gp120(MN)(+transmembrane), nef(BRU)CTL, pol(IIIB)CTL, ELDKWA or LDKW epitopes, in the non-essential region of the virus genome. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
