PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus and an image processing method detecting displacement with high accuracy. SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus comprises: a region determination means for specifying a focus detection region focused in photographing a plurality of photographing images, and dividing the focus detection region, for every photographing image, into at least a first region located in a predetermined range from the focus detection region and a second region farthest from a subject; and a displacement detection means for detecting displacements among the plurality of the photographed images in response to a result of the division by the region determination means. The displacement detection means detects the displacements after setting different weights with respect to information indicative of the displacement in the first region and to information indicative of the displacement in the second region.
