Each electrical machine (20) is of the axial-flux type, having a rotor (22) sandwiched axially between two parts of a stator (24). Each electrical machine (20) is fitted to the respective wheel such that the rotor (22) takes the place of a disc of a disc brake system, and the stator (24) is mounted in place of a calliper of the disc brake system.
