<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the position detection accuracy of an optical mouse even on a smooth board. <P>SOLUTION: There provided is a pointing device, which is equipped with a light source for providing incident light for irradiating a surface of a board having the surface and a rear surface at a predetermined incident angle, wherein the board is transparent for the wavelength of the incident light; a detector for detecting the intensity of speckle light generated by the incident light on the surface and the rear surface; an opening for the passage of the speckle light; and an aperture with a longitudinal direction of the opening in a direction with the incident angle so that speckle light on the surface will overlap speckle light from the rear surface on the detector. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
