PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader having a read function by a document movement read system, the image reader being free of entry of dust etc., into its housing and capable of preventing the quality of a read image from decreasing by suppressing a rise in the temperature of a read glass in reading by the document movement read system. SOLUTION: The image reader is provided with: a heat conductive member 3 which is disposed in contact with or nearby the read glass 12 used for reading by the document movement read system and to which heat accumulated in the read glass is conducted; and a heat radiation accelerating device 4 which is disposed partially in contact with the heat conductive member and moves the heat conducted to the heat conductive member to a position remote from the read glass to emit the heat to the outside of the housing 10.
