In one embodiment of a method of decoding a first frame sequence layer, at least one motion vector of an image block in a frame of the first frame sequence layer is determined based on a motion vector for an image block in a frame of a second frame sequence layer. Here, the frame of the second frame sequence layer is temporally separated from the frame of the first frame sequence layer. The image block in the frame of the first frame sequence layer is decoded based on the determined motion vector.
