PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exercise assistance apparatus used without anxiety even by an inexperienced user and adjustable in foot rest position to obtain usability and exercise effect. SOLUTION: A seat 1 is swung by a driving device. The driving device is fixed on a base 3 positioned on a floor, and the left and right sides of the base 3 are provided with a pair of footrests 4 for resting left and right feet of a user seated on the seat 1. The footrest 4 is formed with a forward/backward mounting slit 4b and a leftward/rightward positioning slit 4c. The mounting slid 4b of the footrest 4 is inserted with a peripheral plate 74b of a cover 73 partially composing the base 3 to prohibit the leftward/rightward movement of the footrest 4. The positioning slit 4c is fitted with a positioning projection 74f projectingly provided on the inside surface of the peripheral plate 74b to prohibit the forward/backward movement of the footrest 4.
