<p>The method involves coupling a control center (16) with a switching center (18) of a cellular network (10) for coordinating alerts. An alarming short message (46) with a code sequence is produced by the control center. The alarming short message (46) is sent over the cellular network to an identification module (58) of a mobile radio terminal (36) that is to be alarmed. The code sequence of the alarming short message is evaluated by the identification module. The mobile radio terminal is shifted into an alarming condition by the identification module.
