A broadcasting receiver for downloading an integrated file and a control method thereof are provided to convert files related to the system operation of a TV into a single integrated file and process the integrated file when a number of the files are the plural number, thereby reducing time and effort required to download the files. A method for controlling a broadcasting receiver comprises the following steps of: reading an integrated file from a memory card where plural files related to the system operation of a TV are converted into a single integrated file and stored(S402); comparing separately each of the plural files composing the read integrated file with the version of the files which correspond to each of the plural files and are pre-stored in the broadcasting receiver(S403); and storing selectively files of a latest version in the memory of the broadcasting receiver when there are the files of a later version than that of the plural files(S404).
