An apparatus and a method for charging a prepayment card in an ATM(Automatic Teller Machine) are provided to increase usage convenience by removing the necessity for visiting a charging station every time to charge the prepayment card, by performing charging of an integrated prepayment card. According to an apparatus for charging a prepayment card in an ATM(Automatic Teller Machine), an input part comprises a number of function keys and transmits key input of a user for charging function. A cash recycling part receives cash inserted for charging the prepayment card. A card recognition part recognizes a corresponding card when the prepayment card and a card to perform transfer account charging are inserted. A communication part supports data transmission/reception between servers connected with the ATM on a network. A prepayment card charging part charges the corresponding prepayment card directly, or charges the prepayment card by requesting a card charging management server to transfer the amount of money requested to be charged to an account related with the prepayment card. An ATM control part controls charging operation for the prepayment card inserted into the ATM by controlling the prepayment card charging part. |
