An elevator compressive braking apparatus is provided to stop smoothly an elevator by generating an additional braking force when a governer is operated by the fall of the elevator. A governer(20) generates braking force when a elevator is dropped. A gas tank(50) generates hydraulic pressure required to an additional braking force, and is connected to a hydraulic tank(40). A hydraulic cylinder(60) having a brake pad is connected to the hydraulic tank through a hydraulic valve. When the governer is operated, the additional braking force is generated by opening the hydraulic valve to supply an operation fluid into the hydraulic cylinder by gas pressure of the gas tank.
