A mobile terminal equipped with a function for generating a Flash image based on templates and a Flash image generating method using the same are provided to use an image captured in the mobile terminal and select/copy the template, thereby enabling a user to generate the Flash image having various dynamic effects. A transceiver(60) transceives wireless signals, and a decoder(61) decodes message information and a voice signal from a signal received through the transceiver. A key input part(70) comprises a plurality of buttons and a display part(71) displays the stored Flash images. A first memory(66) stores programs operated by control of a controller(64) and images. A second memory(67) stores background templates, icon templates, and effect templates. A third memory(68) stores the finally generated Flash images. The image, the background template, the icon template, text, and set time selected by the user are copied based on the effect template, and the Flash image is made from copied data and is stored to the third memory.
