A composition for forming a solar-cell electrode, the composition comprising a dispersion medium and metallic nanoparticles dispersed therein. In the composition, the metallic nanoparticles comprise 75 wt.% or more silver nanoparticles and have been chemically modified with a protective agent whose carbon skeleton comprises a C_1-3 organic molecule backbone. The metallic nanoparticles comprise metallic nanoparticles having a primary-particle diameter in the range of 10-50 nm, in a proportion of 70% or higher by number on the average.
