The device has a locking unit (2) that is transferable from a position in which the unit does not fulfill a locking function to another position in which the unit fulfills the locking function. A safety device is provided for overload and/or vandalism protections. The safety device has coupling units designed as balls, which are held in contact with each other by a spring unit, when the locking unit is found in the position, such that the contact of the coupling units is released and the locking unit is moved from the position, during exertion of force on the locking unit.
