Disclosed is a pre-treatment means for use in the analysis of a sugar chain in a glycoprotein. Specifically disclosed is a protein-solubilizing agent comprising a salt represented by the general formula (I): (I) wherein Z, X, R<SUP>1</SUP>, R<SUP>2</SUP>, M, m and n are as defined in the description. In the analysis of a sugar chain in a bio-derived glycopeptide, a sugar chain moiety can be cleaved out from a sample at high efficiency by using the agent in the first step to effect the reductive alkylation, the digestion with a proteolytic enzyme or the like of the sample.
