#CMT# #/CMT# The system (1) has a radiator fan (2), and a radiator fan electronics (3) connected with an engine control unit (4), where a pulse width modulation (PWM) signal is supplied to the control unit. An activation signal and a supply voltage of an onboard supply system are supplied to the fan electronics. The PWM signal of 0 and/or 100 percentage is assigned to a dry running operation of the fan. The radiator fan electronics measures an electrical system voltage during the detected dry running operation and switches off the fan during dropping of the electrical system voltage below a threshold. #CMT# : #/CMT# An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling a cooling system for an internal combustion engine. #CMT#USE : #/CMT# Used for cooling an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle. #CMT#ADVANTAGE : #/CMT# The radiator fan electronics measures the electrical system voltage during the detected dry running operation and switches off the fan during dropping of the electrical system voltage below the threshold, so that the energy storage, which supports the electrical system, is prevented from being reverse-charged to maintain the starting capability and operability of the motor vehicle, and hence increasing the functioning reliability of the motor vehicle, while effectively cooling the internal combustion engine of the vehicle. #CMT#DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS : #/CMT# The drawing shows a schematic block diagram of a cooling system for an internal combustion engine. 1 : Cooling system 2 : Radiator fan 3 : Radiator fan electronics 4 : Engine control unit. |
