A lightning arrester is provided to prevent saturation of charges distributed at a thunderhead by enabling an upper electrode member to collect charges which have polarities opposite to charges at a lower electrode member, from an atmosphere. A lightning arrester includes an upper electrode member(2), a lower electrode member(3), and a ring-like insulation member(4). A first hollow portion is included in the upper electrode member. A second hollow portion is included in the lower electrode member which is electrically connected to a ground. The upper and lower electrode members are inserted into the ring-like insulation member, so that the ring-like insulation member is supported by the upper and lower electrode members. An upper convex portion is formed at a ceiling center of the upper electrode member. A lower convex portion is formed at a bottom center of the lower electrode member.
