A sub picture transmitting apparatus in a digital television is provided to enable a user to watch digital broadcasting by receiving a digital broadcasting signal, received through a second tuner which is not operated according as a sub screen function is not used in the television, in a local area multimedia device connected through a wireless LAN(Local Area Network). A digital television comprises first and second tuners(16,20), and outputs digital broadcasting signals received through the first and second tuners to main and sub screens. The digital television comprises a local area wireless communication unit(36) and a controller(12). The local area wireless communication unit transmits the digital broadcasting signal received through the second tuner and receives a control signal. The controller performs a control operation so as to transmit the received digital broadcasting signal through the local area wireless communication unit by controlling the second tuner by the control signal received in the local area wireless communication unit according to whether the sub screen is used or not.
