A fuel cell system having a stack disposed on a vaporization layer along the perpendicular direction is provided to reduce the volume, power consumption and noise, and to allow supply of a desired amount of fuel regardless of direction. A fuel cell system comprises a fuel cartridge, a fuel cell section, and an actuator disposed between the cartridge and the fuel cell section for controlling the fuel supplied from the cartridge to the fuel cell section. In the fuel cell system, the fuel cell section comprises: a fuel diffusion layer(60); a vaporization layer(58) formed on the fuel diffusion layer for vaporizing the fuel introduced thereto; and a stack(S1) comprising a plurality of unit cells(C1) disposed in the direction perpendicular to the top surface of the vaporization layer. |
