An ink-jet ink composition of the actinic-ray-curable type with which a high-resolution image having excellent character quality and free from color mixing can be extremely stably recorded in various printing environments even after cold storage or high-temperature storage; a method of forming an image with the composition; and an ink-jet recording apparatus. This ink-jet ink composition of the actinic-ray-curable type is characterized by comprising a pigment, a photoinitiator, a polymerizable compound, and a compound represented by the following general formula (1).
