A display device is provided to display a brighter image in a reflection mode as well as in a transmission mode, by using a prism layer having a plurality of prisms formed on one surface. A prism layer(31) has a plurality of prisms(32) formed on one surface thereof. A support layer(36) is opposite to the surface of the prism layer, on which the prisms are formed. A medium layer(34) is formed between the prism layer and the support layer. The medium layer includes first media(34A) each having a first refractive index and second media(34B) each having a second refractive index, wherein the first media and the second media are moved freely. A potential difference is applied between the prism layer and the support layer through electrodes(33,35).
