A binding fastener for files, binders, and others of that kind, where rings inserted through binding holes of an object to be bound can be sufficiently widely opened, where a lever of an open/close mechanism of the rings can be satisfactorily operated, and which can be attached to covers of the files, binders, and others of that kind. The binding fastener is fixed in an openable and closable manner to a base plate (618) so that rings (612) inserted through binding holes of an object to be bound are opened and closed by an open/close mechanism (616) including a swingable lever (614). A first ring member (620) and a second ring member (640) that constitute the binding rings (612) are constructed so as to be operably associated with the open/close mechanism (616) including the lever (614) such that swinging the lever (614) causes the first ring member (620) and the second ring member (640) to be opened and closed about pivot shafts (646, 650) at the lower ends of the first and second ring members. The base plate (618) has a lever shaft receiver (670) for supporting the lever (614) of the open/close mechanism (616), and the lever shaft receiver (670) is formed by punching and bending upward the base plate (618). |
