The invention relates to a fire barrier 1 that provides a fire safe break between the top of a party wall and a roof covering and comprises a single piece support member 2 having a channel 3 for receiving a gasket 6 of fire resistant material. The support member has a pair of integral sides 7, 8 which extend out sidewards. The sides extend longitudinally beyond the channel at one end 7a and 8a for overlapping with a like fire barrier during assembly. The fire barrier is preferably made from steel and the gasket may be rock fibre. The channel may have a dove-tail cross-section to entrap the rock fibre. The integral sides may have angled portions 9 and 10 that extend upwardly from the integral side portions for the reception of flashing material. |
