BACKLIGHT UNIT AND LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE USING THE SAME

A backlight unit and an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) using the backlight unit are provided to arrange LED(Light Emitting Diode) units each of which is composed of an LED and a reflecting cup for reflecting light emitted from the LED to an LCD panel in the form of a honeycomb to obtain uniform luminance. A backlight unit includes a plurality of point light sources(110), a bottom cover(120), an optical member(104), and a plurality of reflecting cups(112). The bottom cover houses the point light sources and the top of the bottom cover is opened. The optical member is located on the point light sources. The plurality of reflecting cups are arranged in the bottom cover and receive the point light sources to reflect lights emitted from the point light sources to the optical member.
