The drive unit has a plunger (10) which is movable from a non-operating to a penetration position. The penetration unit (20) contains the lancet (30) with a needle which is inside the penetration unit in the plunger's non-operating position, and which is at least partly extruded from an outlet (41) in the penetration unit by the plunger. The plunger has a holder part (11) held by the holder (32a,b) on the lancet.
