OPTICAL DISK DRIVE UNIT CAPABLE OF LABEL PRINTING ON THE OPTICAL DISK

An optical disc drive unit for printing a label of an optical disc is provided to print a label without damaging data recorded on the optical disc and to perform a color label printing operation without an ink cartridge or a ribbon cartridge. An optical disc drive unit for printing a label of an optical disc comprises a label printing module(20) and a control unit(12). The label printing module is formed with a thermal print head(21) to print the label on a label surface of an optical disc(100), a head supporting unit(22) supporting the thermal print head and a head driving unit(23) controlling a moving operation of the thermal print head. The control unit controls the operation of the label printing module. A thermal transfer film(110) showing different colors according to the combination of heating temperature and time is stuck to the label surface of the optical disc. The optical disc drive unit heats the thermal transfer film to realize desired color by the thermal print head positioned at an insertion/discharging side of the optical disc vertically, during insertion/discharging of the optical disc.
