An adapter unit for a fluorescent lamp is provided to drive electronic and magnetic fluorescent lamps by adapting a power supplied to both ends of the fluorescent lamp to a rated driving power for the fluorescent lamp. An adapter unit for a fluorescent lamp includes first and second adapters(42,44) which are arranged at both ends of a fluorescent lamp(46). A high frequency voltage is outputted from an electronic ballast(40) on a fluorescent lamp unit. The adapters convert the high frequency power to a rated driving power for the fluorescent lamp. The first and second adapters are detachably coupled with the fluorescent lamp unit and the fluorescent lamp. The first and second adapters are embedded in the fluorescent lamp.
