In a mold consisting of two relatively movable mold halves (11, 12) containing a mold nest (13), filled by an inlet channel (16) in one mold half and sealed from the channel by an elastomeric seal (30) in a cavity (20) adjoining the channel, the seal has a wedge-shaped end (31) which is movable by elastic compression between (a) a first position, projecting into and sealing the channel and forming a nest boundary surface (14) and (b) a second position, freeing the channel. An independent claim is included for a corresponding method for producing a shaped article, in which the wedge-shaped end (31) of the seal (30) is held in the second position (b) during filling of the mold with pressurized material and moved back into the first position (a) when the filling procedure is complete.
