A mobile terminal having rotary keys and an operation control method thereof are provided to scroll one among split screens or differently control screen scroll speed according to the rotation of either the first rotary key or the second rotary key. A mobile terminal comprises the first rotary key(150), the second rotary key(160), and a control part(170). The first rotary key(150) generates the first signal when the first rotary key(150) is rotatively inputted. The second rotary key(160) generates the second signal when rotative input for the second rotary is made. The control part(170) controls a specific operation according to the first signal or the second signal. The mobile terminal comprises a display part(140). The display part(140) displays a screen according to the control of the control part(170). In case the screen is composed of two split screens, the control part(170) scrolls one of them according to the first signal. Also the control part(170) scrolls the other screen according to the second signal.
