PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact steering column device with reduced weight, suppressing the adverse effect at the time of impact of a vehicle. SOLUTION: Since a bearing 13 is engaged with a lower shaft 8 so as to be relatively displaced in an axial direction at the time of impact of the vehicle, the bearing 13 can be relatively displaced from a universal joint part 9 connected with the lower shaft 8 without the need of any complicated mechanism or a lot of parts, so as to suppress adverse effect at the time of impact of the vehicle.
