The device has a transponder system e.g. radio frequency identification system, stationarily attached to a transport network at a fixed position and a vehicle retrieving data stored in the transponder system by a mobile transmission and reception unit. The reception unit determines an allocation due to the data stored in the transponder system over the place, at which the transponder system is attached. A signal of the transponder system contains and exact position of the system, so that the vehicle determines its position an ordinal number or other allocation characteristics of the system.
